|Goals and Objectives
- Increase retention of minority students, specifically African-American,
Latino/Latina, and Native Americans
- Promote interest in Scientific Research through practical experience
The Program
- Offers a summer fellowship providing research opportunities for minority undergraduates; funding provided by
Kimberly-Clark, Merck,
Monsanto, Pfizer, Procter & Gamble, and Sigma-Aldrich.
- Provides hands-on laboratory experience
- Provides one-on-one interaction with sponsoring
professor.
Audience(s) Addressed
- Undergraduate minority students in science at UIUC
- Industry representatives seeking contacts with minority science students
Invitation to Participate
Companies are invited to participate in the Minority in Science Program.
- Minimum participation level is $500
- Sole support of one summer fellow is $4,000
- Companies are encouraged to invite student for on-site visit
