Custom Oligonucleotide Synthesis

Custom Oligonucleotide Synthesis is carried out on two 394 Synthesizers from ABI/Perkin Elmer. These instruments are excellent for large scale (40 nmol - 10 umol) and long (up to 150 bps) oligonucleotide synthesis, specially modified oligonucleotides, and allow for the option of additional purification procedures required for highly sensitive research applications.

Four synthesis scales are available in Custom productions: the 40 nmol, .2 umol, 1 umol, and 10 umol. All synthesis scale samples are processed as Crude. The 40 nmol and .2 umol scales can be purified using OPC or PAGE purification. For description of Crude vs. Purified oligos, please check out our Crude Oligo page. Oligos up to 150 bases in length may be synthesized. Standard degenerate bases are accepted at no extra charge and must follow IUB nomenclature. Non standard degenerate bases may be made at an extra charge of $10.00 per mix. A number of special bases and oligo modifications available. Please check out our special modifications page which lists many of our more common requests. Prices vary for individual projects, so please call for more information.

Custom oligos cannot be ordered over the net at this time.  A downloaded form may be emailed or faxed to us at gen-engr@uiuc.edu, 217-265-5066 respectively, or you may fill out a form at our office in room 334/340 ERML.
