Cellometer Auto T4
The Cellometer Auto T4 works on the same principle as a hemacytometer. Cells are spread into a thin layer of known volume inside a disposable counting chamber. Images are then taken and the number of cells counted, concentration is then automatically determined by the Cellometer software. When using the Cellometer cells are loaded into disposable slides in volumes of approximately 20μl and then loaded into the machine. Cells can be stained with trypan blue if viable cell count is required. The software contains many cell type profiles, and custom profiles can be made by the user. Analysis can then be done on cell diameter and brightness. Compensation can also be made for dim cells, dead cells, and clustered cells. Calculation can also be made to determine adjustments to reach desired cell concentration or number of cells. All data and images can also be exported for later analysis.
The main Flow Cytometry Facility is located in room 231 of the Edward R. Madigan Laboratory and occupies 1,300 sq. ft. of space. The facility consists of an instrument lab, computer room, wet lab and cell culture area. Facility staff are available to assist with instrument operation, training and protocol development.
Satellite Facilities
The Flow Cytometry Facility has three satellite laboratories that provide trained users around-the-clock access to flow cytometry instrumentation. A training course is required prior to use of the Epics XL benchtop flow cytometers.
