Transgenic Mouse Facility Services and Fees

Transgenic Mouse Production

• Transgenic Mouse Production – The facility will generate transgenic mouse by microinjection of foreign DNA into the pronuclei of fertilized mouse eggs.
  
  $3250/construct

• Gene Targeting – The facility will produce targeted mouse ES cell lines with a knock out DNA construct provided by the investigator.
  
  $4400/construct.

Knockout Mouse Production

• Knockout Mouse Production – Targeted ES cells will be microinjected into mouse blastocysts to generate chimeras.
  
  $3250 up to 2 ES cell clone.

• Embryo Cryopreservation – 8-cell embryos from a mouse line supplied by the investigator will be cryopreserved and stored in liquid nitrogen.
  
  $1500/line.

Rederivation

• Mouse line rederivation – 2-cell embryos from an infected mouse line will be dissected out and implanted into healthy fosters to carry them to term.
  
  $800/line.

Mouse Embryo Recovery

• Mouse Embryo Recovery-frozenmouse embryos will be surgically transferred to fosters to retrieve mouse lines

$650/line

Facility users other than State of Illinois institutions are subject to a 25.3% indirect cost rate for federally funded projects.  For off-campus projects exceeding $5,000 a contract must be negotiated through University of Illinois Grants and Contracts.  For further information contact Dr. Mark A.
