DIRECTOR OF DNA SERVICES

Qualifications: M.S. degree in Microbiology, Biochemistry or related field and applicable work experience, Ph.D. is strongly preferred. Expertise in all aspects of Sanger DNA sequencing, as well as next generation sequencing technologies that include Roche / 454 Life Sciences pyrosequencing and Illumina Solexa Genome Analyzer. This includes library preparation for genomic, amplicon, cDNA, and metagenomic applications. This position also requires excellent communication skills, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team. Candidates must be eligible to work in the U.S.
Responsibilities: The University of Illinois Carver Biotechnology Center is a core user facility that assists campus researchers in genomic, proteomic, and metabolomic experimentation. Responsibilities of this position are to direct the staff of the DNA Sequencing Unit of the Carver Biotechnology Center, to manage and enhance the resources of the Center, and to guide projects initiated within the University and by external researchers. Director is responsible for design, processing, troubleshooting, and analysis of numerous genomic projects.
Type of Position: Full-time Academic Professional. Salary is commensurate with experience.
