May 2 , 2007

The Flow Cytometry facility will be offering the second Short Flow Course for
Spring 2007.  The class will be held on Wednesday, Mary 2 at 9:30am  in
room 350A in the Edward R. Madigan Lab.

The class will have two parts.  The first will be a classrom session with
discussion on theory of Flow Cytometry and discussion on classic and new
experiments in Flow and discusion on how Flow Cytometry can apply to various
areas of research.  The second part will consist of a "hands on" lab session
where attendees can get training on a Bencton-Dickenson LSR II or FacsCanto
benchtop  flow cytometer.
The hands-on sections will be held in 231 ERML in separate sessions during the
week.  Sign-up for these sections will be in room 231ERML immediately
following the classroom instruction.  Training sessions for the Coulter XL
benchtop flow cytometer will be held for Vet Med students or others only by
special request.   Individual users must complete both parts in order to be
eligible to use either the B-D or Coulter instruments.  Please note that only
those researchers who are planning to use the instruments within the next
month, will be allowed to take the second portion of the class.  It is possible to
take the classroom portion, then take the instrument instruction at a later time
to avoid having to be retrained.

If you plan on attending, please send your name, phone number, department
and name of your PI to b-montez@uiuc.edu.  Please send this on to anyone you
think might benefit from this class.
